I just saw The Departed tonight which is based the Hong Kong film, Infernal Affairs. I saw IA a long time ago and I saw it again last night. It is a really good film. I don’t like the many changes in the plot of The Departed but both films were stylized to fit a certain culture (HK gang vs Boston gang) so I guess the changes were necessary.

Before the movie started tonight, I saw the preview of Catch A Fire which looks very interesting. AIUSA is supporting the film and developed an educational curriculum for it.

AIUSA has done similar work with films in the past, such as Hotel Rwanda. I heard people said they had no idea about the 1994 genocide in Rwanda until they saw the film. Obviously, there’s a lot more work for HR activists to do to educate the public.
