Checking out another blog tonight led me to the news about a recent shareholders’ request to Cisco Systems for a report on its business practices that might enable or encourage the violation of human rights. This is big news because 29% of the shareholders voted in favor of the resolution (although it failed due to the required 51% to pass) and that’s almost one third of the total number of shareholders. AIUSA has done similar activities at Google and Yahoo! shareholder meetings by having a volunteer leader spoke at those meetings. And a few days ago, an AIUSA activist spoke at the Microsoft shareholder meeting asking why the company did not support the Global Online Freedom Act. There is going to be more of these happening in the future especially with AIUSA’s SHARE POWER campaign but it needs people to join in. So, step up and take a stand against internet censorship.
