Amnesty International issued another Urgent Action recently for Ablikim Abdiriyim, son of Uighur activist Rebiya Kadeer. This UA is a follow-up to a previous UA described in my earlier blog post. Ablikim was sentenced to nine years in prison on charges of “instigation and engaging in secessionist activities.”

The Chinese media reported that Ablikim emailed two internet articles to the Uighur-language webmaster of requesting for the articles to be posted. However, the international section of Yahoo! does not list any Uighur-language service. This could be a solid proof that the Chinese authorities made up charges to persecute the family members of Rebiya Kadeer whose other son, Alim Abdiriyim was sentenced to seven years in prison on charges of tax evasion last November.
